2/3/10

So we did finish up the rock on Sat. It only took us 6 days total to get it all done! Gotta love that quick stack rock!

this pic is a bit out of focus... I will get a better one next time.

the siding subcontractor should be coming back to finish up on our house next. He got all the rest of the house done, but decided to let us get the rock finished before he did the front. and after he got one of the other homes done this week, he told Norm that he was taking a week and a half off... so when he decides to get back to work, then our house will look AWESOME!!!

Heck, if you do finish in time for the 8k credit and you applied towards your mortgage with all the added sweat equity you could have your home completely paid off in 10 years, that would be awesome!

LOL - I wish - we have a 33 yr mortgage and we are subsidized - meaning we aren't even really able to make the full payments ourselves - if that makes sense...
but the sweat equity will really pay off if we ever do sell the house - we are hoping we will earn between 20 - 40 K, hows that for a part time job of 35 hours a week for 9 months?

The sweat equity program is amazing. The best part is the free training you get in building the house, seriously you will save so much money in the long run on repairs, remodeling, updgrades...that you can all do yourself.

I went with a conventional fixed rate 15 year loan and have a 20% down payment. We refied last spring when the bonds market was tanking and we now have 4.5% rate. Since we don't have any balloon payments or pre-payment penalties, every extra penny goes to the house payment.

We should have it paid in full in 7years...it will be nice to not have a mortgage payment, and if we want to move somewhere nicer we can rent out the crappy house at a profit.

Let me know if you need help laying sod, planting trees, or planting flowerbeds...I live for that stuff.
